London: The British government announced on Tuesday that it will invest up to £14.2 billion (around $19 billion) to build a new nuclear power station a major step in the country’s energy and job growth plans.
The project is expected to create 10,000 jobs during its construction phase and will eventually help supply electricity to around six million homes across the UK.
Officials say the move is part of the UK’s strategy to reduce carbon emissions, boost energy independence, and ensure stable power supply in the future.
The power station, once completed, will be one of the largest energy infrastructure projects in the country. It aims to produce clean, reliable energy for decades to come.
The government also said the investment will support local economies and attract private sector partners to join the effort.
This project highlights the UK’s long-term commitment to renewable and low-carbon energy sources, especially as demand for electricity continues to grow.
Construction is set to begin soon, and full operation is expected within the next decade.
